Security tips for safeguarding ur communities and account




There has been some cases where orkut communities and accounts have been hacked. The most scary part of the story is that these issues are increasing alarmingly day by day. Many have fallen prey to the suspicious scripts and links on orkut and have unwillingly gifted away, their accounts and communities.

This post sheds light on some basic things you should avoid or the precautions you should take to stay safe and take best care of your account and your communities


» Precautions

• Never Trust Any Unknown Person (Member) - Never try any scripts scrapped or messaged to you by any unknown person/member as they might have wicked intentions. Most of the users fall prey to this mistake.
  

• Never Run Scripts Without Knowledge - Avoid trying or running scripts unless you have complete knowledge of it working or unless it is from a trust worthy source.
  

• Check For Links (if any) - Before using any script, Check for links in it. Most of the stuff the script grabs from your profile goes to that link. Some scripts might contain short links which are not easy to catch. These are redirection links and usually have the rest of the script there. So it is advisable to check the nature of links in the scripts before going any further.
